Polycaprolactone (PCL) fillers can potentially be an effective treatment for enlarged pores in moderate to severe cases, according to a May 2022 study by Afsaneh Marefat and Sahar Dadkhahfar, et. al., for Dermatologic Therapy.

For the study, seven participants with enlarged facial pores received a deep dermal injection of PCL-based filler. Skin quality measurements were evaluated with an automated aesthetic camera from FotoFinder Systems before the injection session and three months after treatment. Evaluations included skin evenness, red areas, UV spots, wrinkles and pore numbers; adverse events during the procedure and injection-related side effects post-procedure were also monitored and recorded.
The average size of enlarged pores decreased significantly post-filler injections, going from 33.51 ± 41 before treatment to 20.51 ± 35 after treatment. Skin evenness, redness, UV spots and wrinkles showed no significant improvement after filler injection. No serious adverse events or side effects were reported.
The study indicates that PCL-based filler can be notably effective in the treatment of enlarged pores, but further structured studies with larger sample sizes and a control group could be more beneficial to confirm the possible efficacy of PCL filler injection on skin conditions.
