Medi Futures has introduced its next-generation Ultrasonic Polydioxanone (PDO) Lifting Threads made via ultrasonic vibration.
The company notes that the results of PDO thread lifts typically last four to five months with the diminishing effect driven mainly by the disintegration of the barbs on the lifting threads. The ultrasonic-manufactured threads offer denser, sharper barbs. In clinical trials performed by Dr. Teguh Tanuwidjaja of Indonesia, the outcomes of the new threads lasted up to two times longer (up to a full year) compared to other PDO lifting threads.
In addition, company testing has shown that the ultrasonic-shaped threads have a longer shelf life than heat-molded PDO threads, and the faster, more cost effective manufacturing process allows for more options in thread length, density of the barbs and direction and location of barbs.
Medi Futures’ Ultrasonic PDO Lifting Threads are CE and KFDA approved. The company is aiming for U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance in the fourth quarter of 2021. The threads will be marketed under the name “DaVinci Cog" in the U.S.
