BTL Aesthetics launched EmSculpt Neo, an FDA-cleared procedure to eliminate fat cells non-invasively by combining specially designed radio frequency (RF) heating and high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM+) waves. EmSculpt Neo can treat both fat and muscle in one treatment, and it can be used on patients with a BMI of 35 or lower. For best results, four treatments are recommended over a course of four weeks.
The treatment works by using RF to heat the muscle temperature quickly by several degrees. This prepares the muscles for exposure to stress, and in less than four minutes the temperature in subcutaneous fat reaches levels that cause apoptosis. Studies have shown an average of 30% reduction in subcutaneous fat. Then, the use of HIFEM+ energy contracts the muscle fibers in the area at intensities that are not achievable during voluntary workout. Extreme stress forces the muscle to adapt resulting in an increase in the number and growth of muscles fibers and cells. Clinical studies showed on average a 25% growth in muscle volume.
"There are a great number of benefits that customers will reap after using EMSCULPT NEO. This is a result of us combining the technologies of radio frequency heating to burn fat, and high-intensity focused electromagnetic waves to build muscle," said Ron Borsheim, VP of Product Development of BTL. "Heating the muscles while burning fat allows for synergistic effects that result in more fat reduction and muscle growth than any single gold standard procedure. We are thrilled about the results of seven new clinical studies that show an average of 30% fat reduction and/or 25% increase in muscle mass."
