Rather than producing an emulsion from scratch, formulators add desired amounts of water to the semi-finished lipogel base concentrate, along with actives or fragrances, and stir at room temperature. This builds up to a final form. No heating, homogenization or other technical steps are required, the company reports.
HydraMaxx is based on natural, plant-based raw materials and is cold processed. Additionally, the active is free of EO/PEG, silicone, acrylate, EDTA and mineral oil.
According to the company, this concentrate simplifies every stage; from product development, to testing and manufacturing, and works for brands as well as contract manufacturers. Companies can reportedly start with small batches to test various formulas then quickly and easily scale up to a production level. This saves time by bypassing adjustments to optimize formula and emulsifier choices, and reduces the complexity of having many emulsifiers and stabilizers in the lab.
The company adds that the active enables consumer-centric modifications as well, which can be made on-site. This opens the door to personalized skin care.
