The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) announced the 2016 recipients of the Fredric S. Brandt, MD, Innovations in Aesthetics Fellowship Fund at the recent 2016 ASDS Annual Meeting in New Orleans.
Yakir Levin, MD, PhD, and Omer Ibrahim, MD, will each receive a $25,000 clinical research grant through the program, established in 2015 to continue the legacy of Dr. Brandt. The grants are funded by The Allergan Foundation and support the career development of junior cosmetic dermatologic surgeons focused on cosmetic treatments and patient care.
Dr. Levin will conduct the novel study, “Laser Tattoo Removal: Does the plume contain hazards and what safety measures are appropriate?” He is completing his fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital Dermatology Laser and Cosmetic Center in Boston.
Dr. Ibrahim will conduct “Treatment of perioral rhytides using topical PLLA and fractionated CO2 laser.” He is completing his fellowship at SkinCare Physicians in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
“Dr. Brandt was a pioneer in dermatologic surgery, well known for his expertise as well as his compassion and dedication to his patients,” said ASDS president Thomas E. Rohrer, MD. “The Brandt fellowship fund is a fitting tribute to his passion for cosmetic dermatologic surgery and his commitment to helping train the next generation of leaders in the field.”
