The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) appointed Daniel C. Mills, MD, as its new president at The Aesthetic Meeting 2016 in Las Vegas. Dr. Mills is medical director of Laguna Beach Rejuvenation and Wellness in Laguna Beach, California, and teaches plastic surgery residents at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He is an active member of ASAPS, the California Society of Plastic Surgeons (CSPS), the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Association of Plastic Surgeons (AAPS), and he is currently the technical editor of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal.
“I am confident that Dr. Mills will lead the Aesthetic Society to greater heights, infusing his initiatives with enthusiasm and reverence for the science, art and safe practice of aesthetic plastic surgery and cosmetic medicine. His extensive background in research, public education and patient safety-focused committee work has afforded him an in-depth understanding of our Society’s structure and operations that is essential to leading the Society,” said James C. Grotting, MD, immediate past-president of ASAPS.
Additional new ASAPS officers include:
- President-Elect: Clyde H. Ishii, MD, Honolulu
- Vice President: W. Grant Stevens, MD, Los Angeles
- Treasurer: Charles Thorne, MD, New York City
- Secretary: Herluf Lund Jr., MD, St. Louis
The Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (ASERF) also elected a new president: Santa Monica-based plastic surgeon Steven Teitelbaum, MD. Dr. Teitelbaum has been in private practice for over 20 years and is currently an associate clinical professor of plastic surgery at the UCLA School of Medicine, specializing exclusively in aesthetic plastic surgery.
“Dr. Teitelbaum has a rich background in both research and education, having participated in clinical trials for breast implants, energy devices and injectables. He has taught courses and lectured globally on aesthetic plastic surgery, and teaches aesthetic surgery to UCLA residents. With such passion for research and education, I’m confident he will advance ASERF’s mission of continued medical research that will shape the aesthetic surgery landscape,” said Neal Reisman, MD, JD, immediate past-president of ASERF.
