Six new dermatologists have been named to the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery’s Visiting Professor lecture series. The series was designed to provide additional education on aesthetic devices and aesthetic dermatology to residents. Visiting professors share practical treatment tips gleaned from their clinical and personal experiences in the areas of dermatologic surgery, practice management and patient care. Their visits are provided at no cost to the host site.
The six ASDS members joining the existing roster of Visiting Professors are:
- George J. Hruza, M.D., of Chesterfield, Mo., (lasers)
- Naomi Lawrence, M.D., of Marlton, N.J., (liposuction and Mohs surgery)
- Ken. K. Lee, M.D., of Portland, Ore., (Mohs surgery)
- Gary D. Monheit, M.D., of Birmingham, Ala., (lasers and Mohs surgery)
- Ronald L. Moy, M.D., of Beverly Hills, Calif., (chemical peels and Mohs surgery)
- Susan H. Weinkle, M.D., M.B.A., of Bradenton, Fla., (injectables and Mohs surgery)
“The ASDS understands the demands that residency programs face today, including curriculum requirements, funding issues and for some, limited outside educational opportunities,” said ASDS President Timothy C. Flynn, MD. “The Visiting Professors provide dermatology residency programs with the opportunity to invite experts in these areas to not only lecture but also demonstrate procedures. Today’s medical practitioner must be trained to handle increasing patient demand for antiaging, body sculpting and other cosmetic procedures.”
In the coming year, ASDS Visiting Professors are scheduled to conduct sessions at:
- Louisiana State University, April 12, chemical peels
- Thomas Jefferson University (Pennsylvania), April 12, Mohs surgery
- Loyola University Chicago, April 24, lasers
- Brown University (Rhode Island), April 26, lasers
- University of Colorado, May 6, vein treatments
- Tulane University (Louisiana), June 14, lasers
- Loma Linda University (California), Aug. 23, lasers
