Alma Lasers will debut its latest device, BeautiFill, the first laser-based system designed to optimize the process and quality of autologous fat transfer, during the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology on March 1 – 5, 2019, in Washington, D.C. BeautiFill combines laser, suction and fat processing into one step, allowing physicians to quickly harvest and process high-quality fat for immediate reimplantation to address volume loss.
The system features a proprietary conical tip laser fiber encased in a protective glass sheath. This design diffuses the power density to protect adipose tissue and allows the energy to be distributed in a 360-degree radius for efficient detachment of fat for simultaneous aspiration. In a controlled study, the adipose tissue from BeautiFill consistently achieved high fat cell viability in the high 90s and 40 percent more injectable fat over mechanical liposuction.
“Losing volume is a natural part of the aging process, but the options to satisfy larger quantities of volume loss have been limited and cost-prohibitive for patients,” said Daniel Friedmann, MD, FAAD, a board certified dermatologist at Westlake Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery in Austin, Texas. “BeautiFill is more than just a complete system for autologous fat transfer, it's a comprehensive solution. We now can achieve consistency in high fat viability, and together with Alma’s investment in training, providers can expect to maximize the longevity of their fat transfer results.”
